Topic View
The Topic view contains all the posts for a given topic, most of the options associated with this view can be configured in the Post Settings panel. The Topic view has the following elements:
- A – Topic title, set by the user when they create a new topic. It can be changed using the Topic Tools (see Forum View).
- B – Topic status, can normally be assigned by a moderator or admin. See ‘L’ below for more information.
- C – Topic tags, set by the user when the create a new topic. Moderators and admins can alter these using the Topic Tools (see Forum View).
- D – The post toolbar, this can display several icons as described below. Depending on the theme and icon set you are using, they may look different.
– Edit tools, see ‘K’ below for more information.
– Users profile, a link to the users profile.
– Users website, a link to the users website.
– On-line status, members can set this to never show their status in their profile.
– Report post, users can report a message to a moderator or admin for review.
– Edit post, allows a user to edit a post. Configured in the Manage Permissions panel.
– Permalink, gives a URL that can be used to directly access the topic.
– Print post, allows a user to send a copy of the post to their printer.
- E – The post body.
- F – Topic watching indication, these can be removed at the bottom of the topic or from the user Profile Bar.
- G – Topic subscription indication, these can be removed at the bottom of the topic or from the user Profile Bar.
- H – Add new topic link, allows a user to create a new topic in the forum.
- I – Reply to topic link, allows a user to post a reply to the current topic.
- J – Time stamp & User information panel, contains details about the time and date of the post as well as the user who posted it.
- K – Topic edit tools, normally available to admins and moderators, gives a pop up menu of actions that can be performed.
– Users Email and IP, shows the members Email and IP address. Can be used for blocking access if required.
– Pin This Post, will make this post ‘sticky’ and keep it at the top of the Forum view list of topics.
– Edit This Post, allows you to edit the post.
– Delete This Post, deletes the current post not the whole topic.
– Move This Post, lets you turn the post into a new topic in another forum.
– Reassign This Post, allows you to assign this post to a different member.
– View Properties, shows the properties for the post (see screenshot)
- L – Topic Status, you can set the status of the topic using this. Configure the topic status in the Topic Status Settings.
