Create New Forum

The Forum ☛ Forums ☛ Create New Forum administration panel is where you create a new Forum for you SPF installation. When the form initially displays you can select the new forum to either be Standard Forum or a Sub Forum (has a parent Forum). After selecting the Forum type you select its parent. For a Standard Forum, that will be a Group. For a Sub Forum, it will be another Forum. Once you have selected the parent, the rest of the form will open up to be filled out.

Create New Forum

This admin panel is used to create a new Forum or Sub-Forum.

New Forum

Check the ‘Standard Forum’ option and select the desired Group for the new Forum from the pull-down menu. New Forums can only be added to existing Groups. If you want to create a new Group as well, you must first create the Group, then create the Forum.

New Sub-Forum

Check the ‘Sub/Child Forum’ option and select the desired existing forum the new Sub-Forum will belong to. Sub-Forums can be nested.

Enter the Forum name, description and select the display position.

You may also choose to have the new Forum locked during creation by checking the locked box. If the Forum is locked, users will not be able to create new topics or reply to existing topics.

In this admin panel you may also selectively set the User Group Permission sets for the Forum. Permission Sets determine the level of access for the User Group on this Forum. Permission Sets are defined on the Manage Forum Permissions admin page.

Select the desired User Group and Permission Set to apply to the Forum. If you wish to have the Group level default permission sets applied to the new Forum, simply leave the drop down menus in their current state. You may individually select as few or as many User Groups and Permission sets to apply as you like. Any selected here will override the Group defined default permission sets.

If this is intended to be a private Forum, then you may want to disable the RSS Feed.
